coloring pages for story time

My children loves having me read books out loud to them. Thanks to Richard and his wife they have donated a library to us. :D I would get transparency paper and trace the cover of the book so they have something to color while I read and make lessons plans to go with the stories.

” I love you “

My son Hotrod, says ” I love you ” a lot of times to me or to my husband, his dada, and sometime his sisters Bug and Birdie. Other mothers tell me that when their children says I love you it means they really want something and they are sugaring it up. However, Hotrod says I love you just because he really does. It makes us grateful parents I guess. Grateful to know he doesn’t hate us and we are not doing anything wrong, and that he knows he is loved enough to say it back even when we don’t actually say it.

” You don’t raise heroes, you raise sons. And if you treat them like sons, they’ll turm out to be heroes if it’s just in your own eyes.” – Walter M Shirra, SR. from The Quotable Dad book

Dada is the priciple!

As a stay at home mother sometimes I like to see the results of what the kids learned. They see me all day so I thought my husband should test them. It’s a great way for him to see what they have learned and be more proud of them. Soon to post a scan of their test and results.

While I..

think of more to post, in the meantime I will just post a quote from a book called The Quotable Dad by Lyons and Lyons,

“The simplest toy, one which even the youngest child can operate, is called a grandparent.” – Sam Levenson

What’s on your new year resolution?

Forget the New Year’s resolutions being presented, I feel like my list should be treated like a wish, if I accomplished it I will then say what it was that I accomplish. It’s like saying I am going to do this but will it ever get done? Then I would feel like a failure more than ever.

The Mailboxes!

Their christmas present 2011, they got custom mailboxes hand painted, spray painted by me. They love it so much they put their cameras in it while we had the mailboxes in the house. This upcoming weekend we should put it outside, posted where it should belong. We are in need of a new mailbox ourself since Nana hit our mailbox. ;P

Now the mail awaits!

Hope ya’ll have a great new year this year!

The Quotable Dad and a birth of a new daughter

My grandmother sent my husband a nice book called The Quotable Dad edited by Nick and Tony Lyons. I thought it was so nice i wanted to share a quote a day to all you fathers out there.
I felt something impossible for me to explain in words. Then they took her away, it hit me. I got scared all over again and began to feel giddy. Then it came to me I was father.
By the way i gave birth to a little girl born December 16 the days after Hotrod’s fifth birthday. Her nickname will be birdie for shes got that high pitch voice. Bug is crazy about Birdie.
